OnDuty Medical App

The task at hand was to Identify a problem and create a solution to benefit the Irish healthcare system. The outcome would have to be made with consideration to the wider healthcare system, and visually illustrate it’s place within that ecosystem. Interviews, research and investigation were critical factors to come to a solution that would fit the users needs.

My application was to come up with a solution for the trouble of note taking in the Irish healthcare system. After looking at all the problem I had to address I made an app that digitised notes and imputed them into a system, saving valuable time and solving the users problem but also having a positive effect that benefits a wider range of people.

Some of the pain points that came up through the research identified multiple common problems such as legibility, accessibility and time spent on using outdated systems that were difficult to use resulting in less time spent with the patient.

Solution

After doing extensive research, interviews and investigation the solution was to create an app called Onduty which is a healthcare application providing a visual aid for collating patient records. This gives health care professionals alternative options to take notes that are then stored in a central database.

The solution for the users was to create three simple ways to record medical notes that suited their individual needs:

  1. Write: Handwritten to digital

  2. Record: Voice recording to digital

  3. Type: Typed to digital
